a practicing artist and a former computer specialist who is using
the Printing Service to publish a selection of his own work as well
as providing a service to other artists and creative adventurers.

drawing & other related creative activities have always been present
in his life since childhood and subsequent training at Art College.
He is now combining these two streams of his life - computing &
visual arts - in this digitally based printing process to further
explore creative ideas as well as provide an 'artist' sympathetic

Overview
of Fine Art
Giclée Printing
|
The
discerningARTS Fine Art Printing service
uses the Giclée Printing Technique, which is an advanced form
of inkjet technology producing prints of exceptional quality. The
main printer used is the EPSON 7600, which prints from roll
or sheet media - maximum width 24 inches. The printing process uses
lightfast pigment inks in conjunction with acid free media ensure
colours remain true to the proof over many years when displayed properly.
|
Giclée
Printing Process
Stage 1 - Creating a digital file
Giclee
is a digital printing process that requires a high quality digital
master of the original artwork to achieve the best results. This can
be produced in several ways depending on the original artwork. The
success of a print depends on the accuracy & quality of the digital
master, the equipment used & the skills of the operator.
Stage
2 - Setup & Proofing
Once the digital file is available the image is colour
balanced against the original artwork. It is essential that this reference
image is provided so that the proofing process can be matched for
colour and detail accuracy to achieve the best possible results.
Stage
3 - Printing
Once the proof has been accepted the required number of prints will
be produced according to the print run agreement.
|
The
core of the service is typically:
Initial
Job
-- Create Digital Master
-- Setup & Proof - produce initial print for validation by artist
- against original. As
soon as the print 'proof' has been approved we are ready to print!
-- First Print Run - There is no minimum order quantity or value
so if you wish you can order 1 print!
Subsequent Job(s)
-- Additional Print Run(s) until Edition limit is
reached.
