Culture shapes people & people shape Culture

This is a collection of essays that explores the identity & purpose of MAN
and the relationship between MAN & CULTURE

The cultural conventions lay foundations for our behaviour - sometimes conveniently for us, other times very inconvenient - depending upon our intentions. We rarely question all of the 'givens' that allow us to 'just get on' with life - unless something happens that disturbs our acceptance of the culture that we live in.

Culture points a direction and inspires the participants to achieve the objectives. The core of culture is the tension between society and the individual. It is related to citizenship - the sense of belonging - self-worth and self-esteem - distinctiveness & differentiators. It can create an atmosphere of respect and identity or of abuse and unworthiness. The landscape of cultural expression covers all areas of human activity - some easy to identify and relate to - other areas are more obscure but nevertheless influence our perception and experience of life.

There is more to mankind than meets the eye! Many have search for answers to the mystery of 'who' we are and why are we here. A simple and quite acceptable answer is - "I am what I am, and that's enough - I need to just get on with living and make the best of it!" But for many exploring the mystery of life is fundamental and inspirational to being alive.......
