After a 'creative' start at Art College and art teachers training, Brian Squires retrained as a Computer Programmer
and began a successful career in the IT industry working in the Aero Industry,
manufacturing, retail and finance sectors. Beginning as a programmer,
he developed through technical support & business analysis functions
to becoming a Data Warehouse consultant designing & implementing business
information systems. The 'creative'
background brought added value to his work in IT - approach to problem
solving & development of ideas.
Although his career has been in the
computer industry, painting, drawing & other related creative activities
have always been present in his life since childhood. ‘Creativity’ has
continued to find expression with the production of many water colours,
oils, acrylic & mixed-media paintings and drawings, plus explorations
into animation, 3D and digital art, as well running creative ‘Created
to be Creative’ workshops.
Brian is now creatively combining the
different areas of activity within the ‘discerningways’ ventures, exploring the idea that ‘creativity
is a key to wholeness’.
He recently organised an arts exhibition called 'CIRCLES @ Hoole' (the
day the circle visited Hoole). The objective of the exhibition was to
encourage artists & non-artists to be creative around the theme of
CIRCLES. He
has been a committee member of the Grosvenor Arts Society for a few years. and has
been involved in the Chester "Arts for Artsake" group of artist,
particularly working on the early stages of feasibility study to establish
a Community Arts Centre for Chester.
